Free Website Promotion

Free Website Promotion

Website promotion doesn’t have to be as difficult as some people make it out to be.  Here are three website promotion strategies to help you get started.

Directories.

Directories are essentially libraries of websites.  They’re generally organized by broad category like sports and then by more specific categories like baseball which is then broken down into micro categories like amateur, youth, video games, instruction, movies and so on.

The benefit to listing your website with a directory is they send traffic to your website and they help increase search engine ranking.  The caveat is that there are literally thousands of website directories.  Best advice, because manually submitting takes time, is to submit to a handful as time permits.  For example when your website is up and running submitting to http://www.dmoz.org is a great idea.  Additionally, you can submit to a couple more. Then plan on submitting to another five or so the next quarter.  By the end of the year, you will have submitted to 20 directories and can reevaluate your plan and how much traffic has come from those directories.

Search engine submission.

One of the first things many people do once they’ve created a business website is to submit it to the search engines.  This is a very straight forward process and many website hosts offer this service as part of their hosting package.  The obvious search engines to submit your site to are Google, MSN, and Yahoo however there are a number of smaller search engines for which it can benefit your business to become a part of.  They include:

o MetaCrawler,
o AltaVista,
o Live Search,
o Ask.com,
o About,
o MIVA,
o LookSmart

There are actually hundreds of search engines however these seven plus the three listed earlier are a great start.  To list your website with a search engine manually, that is without a submission service, simply visit the website.  Generally they explain the process in their FAQs or in their ’submit a site’ tab.  For Google the process is straight forward, simply visit http://www.google.com/addurl/ and add your URL per the instructions.

Press and publicity.

Press releases are a great way to spread the word about your business and the benefits your company offers.  Online press release websites like prweb.com are an excellent resource.  They offer tutorials on how to write a press release and also offer various degrees of service ranging from manual and broad scope submission to professional submission to targeted publications, regions, or industries.  One well written press release can generate a ton of website traffic, increase awareness of your company and present you and your business with new opportunities.

Website promotion is a continual process and part of an ongoing marketing strategy.  As website traffic and awareness build, promotion strategies will naturally evolve.  Submitting to directories and search engines will no longer be necessary and press releases and more sophisticated marketing campaigns will take over.  However, to attain that level of success, take the time to implement those initial promotion steps; submit to a few major directories and search engines to get the ball rolling.

Grocery Shopping on a Budget

Review of “How to Feed a Family of 4 for Less Than $200 a Month”

Where to get it FREE: http://www.budget101.com

Summary:

This printable eBook will give everything from the way it all began to the down and dirty truth about feeding a family when little money is available. It includes recipes and many ideas and tips on how to keep your family happy and healthy at the dinner table while pinching pennies in order to do so.

Review:

This eBook is great. When it comes to grocery shopping and cooking meals I have a terrible time with saving money. You know my kind. Make a grocery list, cut the coupons, leave them on the table, go to the grocery store hungry, buy everything I see that sounds good and then come home and be depressed because I just spent not only the grocery money, but the electric bill money too. Ever been there?

I really needed some help. Wanting to be able to feed my family and afford it too was a losing battle. Then I found How to Feed a Family of 4 for Less Than $200 a Month. It’s great. I printed it off, threw away the pages I didn’t need, stapled it and stuck it with my cookbooks. I pull it out all the time to refresh myself on the goods and the evils of being the household cook.

There are many different scenarios in this ebook. It explains how the author got to this situation. It goes into why spending a whole weekend cooking and freezing meals didn’t work for her. It has some very funny parts that make me laugh while reading them. The bad part is we have all probably been there and done that.

The recipes at the end are great too. I have found that making some of these items such as the rubs and seasonings have helped me to save lots of money at the grocery store. It even enticed me to try to make some of my own.

Want to find a way to buy, cook and eat things that everyone likes while staying within your means? Check this ebook out. Even if you don’t use all the ideas the author has come up with I promise there is something you’ll come away feeling better about. Keep an open mind and you might just find that going to the grocery store and cooking all those meals can be more fun than you ever imagined.

3 Reasons to Purchase Existing Domain Names

3 Reasons to Purchase Existing Domain Names

When the time comes to set up your own internet business one of your first thoughts is to buy a domain name to establish a web site for your new business. You may spend a lot of time dreaming up possible names and testing their availability but there is another option you should consider — purchasing an existing domain name.

Obviously you do not want to buy an existing web site for your new business as you wish to create a web site that accurately reflects your business vision, but there are a number of advantages to buying an existing domain name and if you do not yet have your heart set on a new domain name you will likely find an existing domain name available at a price not much greater than you will pay for a fresh name and an existing domain name brings a number of advantages.

One of the primary advantages of an existing domain name is that it already has traffic flowing toward it. Obviously the amount of traffic will vary greatly depending on what the current owner has done for promotion but any traffic is more than the zero visitors a fresh name will deliver.

Another advantage is from search engine optimization. Many domainers will have at least put in a small amount of time optimizing their domain name portfolio for search engines. Others put in a great deal of time and effort targeting key words and making sure the domain name is listed. It takes time for various domain names to work their way into search engine listings and if someone has already done that work for you then you are ready to capitalize on their groundwork as soon as you take over the name.

A third advantage is that the wild frontier of short, targeted, key word domain names is over. It is not impossible but very difficult to find an unregistered domain name in a short, catchy phrase and even more so if you have a specific key word in mind. However, many of the domainers who registered these domain names did so as an investment rather than a long-term project of their own and so are willing to sell. The only way to acquire many of these great domain names is by purchasing an existing domain name. You will not be able to find one to register fresh.

Choosing the right domain name for your internet business enterprise can be an exciting and challenging time but if you take the time to learn more about the available domain names you can buy then you just might find the bargain of a lifetime and start off your business with a bang.

Look For and Purchase Existing Domain Names

Advertising with Personal Email

I never thought that my email could help me to grow a business.  I didn’t even think about it until a friend who has her own business sent me an email and I noticed her signature.  It was her advertisement for her various business ventures.  Consider using your email signature as a way to squeeze out some extra advertising.

Just like the telephone is the most utilized way to communicate with someone for a local business, email is the way to “talk” to someone when you conduct business on the Internet.  Your site will be seen by thousands of people and many of them will buy from you (hopefully!).  In reality, you won’t ever meet these people in person.  To keep in contact with them, use the email system.

Most email providers will allow you to set up a signature line.  Unfortunately, this marketing tool is seldom used.  It’s a good idea to take the time to rectify that situation.  Decide on what you will say in your email signature line to attract people to you website and your business.

A signature line has to have a few things to make it effective.  First, there is your name.  When you sign a letter, you sign it with your name first and then list anything else that goes along with that.  Add a couple of lines that describe what you do as the owner of your business.  Ask email recipients to visit the website and supply the website address.  If it is helpful, add your telephone number.  This can be your home telephone, but a separate business line will keep you from missing potential business calls or having family members answer them.

When you perfect your signature line, create a signature file.  This is where all of this information will be stored so it can easily be changed if you need to.  Be sure that the signature line looks professional and is displayed the way you want.  Avoid using HTLM if you can, as it can be tricky.  One word or symbol out of place and you will actually see the code in your signature line.  That won’t go over well.  To most people, it looks like gibberish.

Use your signature file when you send emails to family and friends as well.  When they forward your emails, others will see your signature line at the bottom.  Set up distribution lists using your email address book so that important business emails get to the right people at the right time.  Give each list a name that is easily identifiable.  So that all of the names are not seen in the top line, enter them on the blind copy (bcc) line so that they stay hidden when the email is opened.

Who could know that email could be so useful?  Whether you use Outlook or Yahoo or Gmail, get to know the features of their email system and use it to enhance your communication with customers.

Generate Business Leads with Online Conference Calls

Lead generation is important for any type of business.  Many businesses have seen the value of taking their lead generation efforts online, running email campaigns and offering incentives online in order to get qualified leads.  But as audio and video are quickly becoming the norm to Internet users, it is taking more to get their attention.

One innovation that an increasing number of marketers are taking advantage of is the online conference call.  The concept is similar to that of the traditional marketing conference call, with business leaders offering information and pitching their products, services or opportunities to prospects who call in.  But utilizing the capabilities of the web can add a great deal to the experience.

How Do Online Conference Calls for Lead Generation Work?

In its most basic sense, an online conference call is simply a traditional conference call in which participants can view information online.  You could set up a special password protected area on your website that you give callers access to, then have them call in so you can give a verbal presentation.  This method is very inexpensive, but it is also quite limited.

Online conferencing software gives you more options.  It usually has audio capabilities, so your callers can listen to audio without calling in if they like.  Video capability is also included in most programs, so you can give a video presentation.  And some offer the option of a messaging system so that prospects can ask questions or communicate back and forth with you or each other.

If you choose to utilize audio or video, you’ll need the proper equipment.  A good microphone is necessary if you’re going to transmit the audio online, and you’ll need some type of webcam or video camera for video capture.  It’s also important to make sure your conferencing software includes all of the components you’ll need before you even start planning your conference call.

Once everything is in order, you’ll need to plan your presentation.  You’ll also need to set up your registration.  This can be easily handled by an autoresponder.  Requiring an email address from those who register will also give you the means to follow up with them later.

Once you’ve got all of the technical aspects taken care of, all that’s left is to promote your conference call.  You can announce it on message boards, send the information to your mailing list, and spread the word to bloggers who write about related topics.  Promoting offline can also entice people to come online to learn more and register.

Online conference calls are great lead generation tools.  Setting one up doesn’t have to be difficult, and it allows prospects to interact with you in a way that was once only possible with a live event.  So if you’re looking for a fresh, new way to get leads, consider online conferencing.
